OUR EXPERTISE
Exceptional Care at Home for Older Adults
Navigating home care subsidies - especially billing - through the Province can be confusing. Luckily, TheKey now supports direct billing for our clients to make it easier for you to receive the home care services that you need with nursing case management. Let TheKey help you claim your benefit so you can age comfortably and independently at home.
As an approved provider of the Client Directed Home Care Invoicing Program, families can now use funds to heavily subsidize the care their loved one needs to remain safe, comfortable and happy in their own home as they age. With TheKey, you will receive concierge customer service and a personal relationship with a local, experienced private company.

At TheKey, we make the process easy. You’ll receive expert guidance every step of the way to activate all the benefits to which you are entitled. Our team will:
  • Evaluate your unique circumstances and needs.
  • Assist in determining your eligibility for the client-directed home care benefit.
  • Guide you step-by-step through the approval process orchestrated by Alberta Health Services (AHS).
  • Conduct an in-home assessment, create your care plan and get you started with high quality in-home care.
Home care services are covered under the CDHCI program up to the authorized monthly hours:

  • Personal Care: includes assistance with personal hygiene, dressing, toileting, mobilization and transferring, feeding, oral care and medication management.
  • Homemaking: includes laundry, bed changes, light housekeeping tasks, meal preparations and companionship.
  • Respite Care: includes day, evening or night care to give unpaid caregivers (typically family) a break from caregiving duties.
  • Direct Billing: You’ll no longer be required to pay out of pocket for most of the home care expenses or the administration of managing reimbursements. TheKey directly bills Alberta Blue Cross on your behalf.

How do I apply for Client Directed Home Care?
If you already receive in-home personal care funded by AHS, the transition can be seamless by contacting your AHS case manager and asking for a CDHCI assessment; once you have approval, TheKey will take it from there. If you don’t already receive public home care, you must inquire about eligibility for approval by meeting the requirements set by the AHS. An AHS care manager will come to your residence to assess your situation and to determine if you meet the necessary criteria for home care services. If you want to receive an assessment, simply call our team or submit a form and we will guide you through the process.
